The story behind eating less with more

I remember the day I was walking in the middle of fancying sushi in my head carrying two things in my hand: my long shopping list and a credit card, which was weeping on its own.

The second I tried to get the thought of sushi off my mind and walk like a civilized woman to the metro,

I remembered the taste of the naked finely chopped fish with wasabi on it, collapsed on the vinegared rice.

“Stop it!”

But the picture was not fading away. I was grabbing the chopsticks and bringing those delicate pieces close to my mouth. I was feeling the reality was slightly slipping out of my hands and the only question had me running was, if sushi was chewing me or the other way around? Finally, it was time for that awesome mouthfeel of ginger root tinted with pink color.

My lips are still sore from having too much of it…

I shoveled hard to find an answer! How did the first person come up with inventing sushi’s recipe in the first place?

What is the secret behind this raw and simple combination?

The story is:

The lack of refrigeration in southeast Asia and practice to ferment fish with salt and rice which by the time rice would be extracted and thrown away had come through generations of transition from the wooden barrel and cheap street food to a crafty and artful Japanese cuisine.

Likewise,

We as humans tend to like the simplicity that gives us cognitive fluency. The feeling that associate you with the taste of sushi is simple yet sophisticated which puts you at ease in identifying, eating and digesting it.

Here it is! “LESS IS MORE” — a warmed-over phrase that makes sense even when it comes to food.

Colorful-Minimal ingredients and soft texture of fish especially when it’s prepared raw, as well as a complimentary taste of ingredients and condiments that will leave you in awe but no food-coma even after having considerable rolls!

Aha! How so? Chopsticks having a great deal in this whole colorful ensemble. They force you to eat slower but fill you up faster with less food.

Fancying some sushi?

Enjoy your sushi more now, after knowing the secret behind your pleasure.

Bon appetite!
